Bishop Dr. Michael C. Turner, Sr. is a native of Painter, Virginia. He was licensed to the Gospel Ministry at the New Mount Zion Baptist Church, Painter, Virginia (1974) by Reverend Dr. Willie A. Carter. He was ordained at the Metropolitan Baptist Church, Washington, D.C. (1980) by Reverend Dr. H. Beecher Hicks, Jr. He has been preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ for 40 years. He pastored the Olney Street Baptist Church, Providence, Rhode Island (1981 to 1985). He also pastored the First Baptist Church of Deanwood, Washington, D.C. (1985 to 1991). He is married to Bishop Eunice Thomas Turner. Dr. Turner has two sons, Michael, Jr. and Thomas and two daughters, Mikea and Micole.
In February of 1991, Dr. Turner was called to pastor eleven members of the Faith Missionary Baptist Church. On November 9, 2009, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the name was changed to "The Miracle Center" of Faith Missionary Baptist Church. Under his visionary leadership, the church has experienced tremendous growth. The Faith Church, under the spiritual leadership of Dr. Turner, has secured a worship center of 51,000 square feet that is valued at 5 million dollars.
Bishop Turner is an honor graduate of Howard University in Washington D.C., receiving the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Psychology, 1977 (Cum Laude). He continued his training at the Howard Divinity School. In recognition of his consistent growth at the Divinity School, he was awarded the Daniel G. Hill award and graduated with a Master of Divinity in 1980. He continued his studies at the Boston University School of Theology in the area of Church Administration. He received his Doctor of Ministry in the area of Church and Community, May 1989 from Howard Divinity School. The title of his Project/Dissertation was "Partnership Between Parent, Child Development Center Staff and the Religious Sector in the Socialization of Preschoolers".
He has toured Russia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Thailand, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, Caribbean, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Zambia, Soweto, Johannesburg, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Jamaica, South America and Tokyo, Japan.
Bishop Turner is a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. He is a 33rd Degree Mason. He served as a consultant in the writing of "Tell the Story", by James O. Stallings. He served as the Editor of the official magazine for the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention. He has given spiritual guidance in the establishment of First New Horizon Baptist Church of Clinton, Maryland; The Faith Missionary Baptist Church of Beltsville, Maryland; The Faith Missionary Baptist Church of Mbale, Uganda; The Faith Christian Ministries of Gaithersburg, Maryland; The Faith Missionary Baptist Church of Waldorf, Maryland; The Faith Missionary Baptist Church of LaPlata, Maryland and Abundant Life Christian Ministries of Lanham, Maryland.
Bishop Turner currently serves as the immediate past President of Partnership for Renewal in Southern & Central Maryland (PRISCM), a diverse ecumenical organization advocating for the rights and justices of all God's children. He served for two years as the President of the American Baptist Churches of the South (ABCOTS), of the American Baptist Churches, USA. He serves as the Associate Grand Chaplain, Prince Hall Affiliated District of Columbia, Inc.
On March 5, 2016, Bishop Turner was consecrated to the Office of Bishop with the Eagles World Evangelism College of Bishops. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of the Eagles World Evangelism College of Bishop North and South America and Board member to the parent body organization.
He serves as Senior Servant of The Miracle Center of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, "A Church Where Preaching Is Intentional; Bible Study Is Essential And Singing Is Empowering and Inspirational".
